IDT Program Description
Target population
The target population for Keystone IDT is both male and female youth ages 11 through 17 residing in Hennepin, Ramsey and Dakota counties. Clients are adjudicated delinquents or have other court assessed sanctions. Clients must have an open case through DOCC-JP and HSPHD. Clients must have exhibited behaviors that interfere with their success, putting them at risk of out-of-home placement, or they must be returning from out-of-home placement. IDT's capacity will be 57 clients.
Frequency/availability of services
• IDT operates five days a week, Monday through Friday, providing five hours of educational instruction, two hours of group treatment, 30 minutes for lunch and 1.5 hours of after-school credit recovery, recreation and community services offered four days per week. IDT offers regular educational/treatment services September through July, and an additional six weeks of educational services through mainstream educational facilities annually.
• IDT educational/treatment programming begins at 8:30 a.m. and runs until 4:00 p.m. daily Monday through Friday. IDT's extended day programming begins at 4:30 p.m. and runs until 5:30 p.m. Regular transportation begins at 6:30 a.m. Monday through Friday for pick-ups and from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for returns.
• IDT offers a variety of services during extended day programming, including daily homework help provided by both IDT staff and volunteer teachers. A variety of recreational activities are also offered. IDT collaborates with St. Paul Parks and Recreation and the Merriam Park Community Center to utilize gym space, ball parks and sports equipment. IDT also offers a variety of creative arts activities during extended day programming as well as community services opportunities such as working in a local foodshelf or providing chore services (shoveling, raking, painting, etc.) to members of the community. IDT collaborates with Keystone Community Services Basic Needs and Seniors programs to identify individuals and families in need of assistance.
• During summer enrichment programming (six weeks during July and August), IDT will offer three hours of experiential learning and two hours of group treatment per week. Extended day sevices will not be offered during summer enrichment programming. Students will arrive at the program at 10:00 a.m. and returns will begin at 3:00 p.m. Transportation services for summer programming will run from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. for pick ups and will run from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for returns.
